          Schinkenfleckerl were a regular culinary feature of my childhood. My
        
        
          mother prepared them very often, especially when she had to prepare
        
        
          a quick meal. They are still very popular to this day, maybe because of
        
        
          the old song by Viennese chanteur Hermann Leopoldi
        
        
          from the 1930s that is still remembered by people
        
        
          today.

          produced ham as it tastes better and is more
        
        
          sustainable.
